The Hungarian Poetry from Romania is a real force of poetry. Completely different from what we call Romanian literature, the poetry written in Hungarian inside the political borders of Romania can be read as original discourse over every day poetic works. The PoQ had the opportunity to host Papp Attila Zsolt from Cluj, Karacsonyi Zsolt from Cluj, Kiraly Zoltan from Cluj, Laszlo Noemi from Bucharest. Their performance in Bucharest was supported by The Magyar Writers from Transylvania League.

They brought to the PoQ a four different poetic visions,in the tradition of the great Hungarian poetry but, none the less with explicit Romanian background. Even when their translators are brilliant in Romanian, as for the versions realized by the Serban Foarta, a simple enquiry behind the text will reveal a strong conception of the original text and the ussage of poetics as existential tool. The theme poetic is here was shaped by the ability of the poets of transforming their home town in a center of their poetry.

George Bodocan introduced in Romania the collection Cafe Poemes de Paris. Cafe poemes de Paris was a project of collecting poetry in Paris produced by Romanian Cultural Institute from Paris and supported by different Cultural Institutes from the capital city of France. For one month, in many cafes from Paris one could see a strange box near a pile of small pieces of design paper. The design was by George Bodocan and in the end he managed to gather poems in different languages. The best poems were printed on a leaflet with original visuals. The project included audio versions of the poems with original music and voices of two students in theater. At Poetics of the Quotidian, the poetry proved to be not only personal but also international no matter in which language it was written.

The theme of the evening was Poetic is together.

The selection of the authors for this anthology was made by Dumitru Crudu, one of the most influent writers for literature from Moldavia and Romania in the last two decades. Since the Millennium, the poetry written in Basarabia (as Moldavia Republic is called in Romania) manifested a vivid influence over the poetry written in Romania. It was for the first time for ages when the Romanian language used in literature outside the political borders of Romania works as a tour de force.

Most of the authors form the anthology are active online and manage to include reactions to every day life in their poetry. The poets in the anthology are Angela Pânzaru, Iulian Fruntașu, Ștefan Baștovoi, Mihail Vakulovski, Alexandru Vakulovski, Steliana Grama, Diana Iepure, Pavel Păduraru, Leo Hristov, Andrei Ungureanu, Ana Rapcea, Adrian Ciubotaru, Horia Hristov, Alexandru Buruiană, Liliana Armașu, Iurie Burlacu, Aurelia Borzin, Corina Ajder, Andrei Gamarț, Vadim Vasiliu, Daria Vlas, Doina Bulat, Ecaterina Bargan and Cătălina Bălan.

His evening was called “The last poetics of the Empire” as his most recent book is “The Last Heretics of the Empire”. Although he is considered one of the writers that is very good with promoting his titles, he showed interest in the real audience of his books. That is not promoting a book as a mass market product. One of his characters considers that “the power of a literature is proportional with the power of the army that this literature has behind”. But poetry, he sais, is the language of ressistence. Poetic is heretic was thetheme of the evening that included readings from Akhmatova, Celan and other poets cited in Ernu’s new book.

The first meeting took the main Romanian poetic icon, Eminescu and translated the usual celebratory discourse connected to the birth of the main Romanian poet from the XIXth century to a game with literary figures from the classical era of Balkan national literatures.

The Audience had the opportunity to participate at the first literary stock exchange at PoQ.
